The Akron SPE section has a great history of being one of the premier sections for SPE International. For the future, our section aims to continue on the path of spreading knowledge, strengthening skills, promoting education and promoting the industry to technicians, scientists, marketers, retailers and other plastics professionals. The Akron section will continue to bring innovation to our members by having creative and educational monthly programs. In addition, partner with other local professional trade groups to share the knowledge and learn from best practices. The section will continue to support education with our Education Foundation and partnering with University of Akron Polymer Program while continuing to align with ACESS local engineering society and Akron Global Polymer Academy.
A message from the President:
I have once again attained the Presidency of the Akron Section SPE (previously 1997-98) and am now trying to get caught up with some of our past illustrious leaders in the 3-timers club! It is a pleasure to lead the dedicated Board of Directors of this Premier Section as a member of the International SPE.
I have once again had the opportunity to orchestrate this year’s program. I have set out to highlight new technology and chosen to lead with a Mini Tech Conference on Nanomaterials and Composites, as it has now become more relevant in today’s industrial world. As a high priority, I plan to expand our current educational outlook by continuing to build ties with the highly touted local groups, ACESS Engineering Group and AGPA (Akron Global Polymer Academy with the University of Akron).
We have been working on up-grading and modernizing our website. This will help our members and online visitors navigate it more easily. It will also allow for increased visibility for our section members and their companies. I am aware of plans for the future and we will continue to bring innovation to our members by having creative and educational monthly programs. We are set for the future.
Please come join us at a monthly meeting, or even as a guest at a board meeting. We would love to have you!
